Mushroom

Looking through past pictures, I ran across this mushroom.  They come in so many shapes, forms, and colors that I always enjoy their manifestations.  And on this lovely snowy and white mountain day, the bright yellow was much appreciated.

Prints available from Happy Chance

January 1st, 2009 by Helen

In the process of working out what pictures to use for the calendar, I printed out the pictures prior to printing out the calendar.  Also, I made a mistake at one point and printed a set out in an 11″x17″ format.  Can’t bring myself to throw them out.  I believe they are suitable for framing.  If you’d like one, just let me know.  One that is particularly striking is the January trees in snow, which I unintentionally printed in black and white on the 11×17 format.

If you didn’t happen to read the back page, the paper is made from a sustainable source, papyrus.  The toner adheres to this paper especially well.  I’m very pleased with this paper and am glad I went to the extra expense.

If you’re reading this and don’t already have a calendar, please contact me and I’ll get one to you: 828 264 1434 or Helen@CoeRealty.com.

2009 Calendar Happy Chance January photo

We had an early snow in 2008.  As you know from previous posts, I like to look at the forest tree trunks in winter, to see the ‘bones’ of the forest.  In this shot, I like the interplay of light and shadow,  and the dark tree trunks against the snow.

These trees are growing up in what would have been pasture in Mr. Cone’s days [see my posts on Mr. Cone's vision for his estate and eventual 'public pleasuring grounds,' now our Park. They are young trees, what I've come to think of as NPS [National Park Service] trees, having been allowed to take over pasture.
