Coe Realty Calendar 2022: October

october-church-cabin
At milepost 272 on the Blue Ridge Parkway the Church cabin enjoys red Fall glory under a maple tree.  When I worked as a rnger on the Parkway, I was assigned the delightful duty of learning more of its history.  One story told me by a descendant of the original owners has always stood out.  Her grandfather buried his potatoes in a ho...

Coe Realty Calendar 2022: September Picture

calendar-maple-tree-yellow-leaves-2-sept-2022-pic
The time is coming for Fall brilliance:  bright colors to absorb and savor and internalize within our bings.  It's nature's way of moving us from the soothing green of summer leaves to the browns and greys and less frequent greens of winter.

Coe Realty Calendar: May 2022 Queen Anne's Lace

2022-May-calendar-queen-annes-lace
Queen Anne's Lace is amazingly ubiquitous throughout our mountains.  Does it surprise you, then, to learn it's an introduced species?  Like humans, plants find the way to adapt and thrive in new environments. If you'd like one of my calendars, I do have extras to give away.  Call me at 828.264.1434 or email me:  Helen@...

Coe Realty's Calendar: July 2020

july-two-girls-1-of-1
It couldn't happen in 2020:  COVID meant no Todd Liberty Parade on July 4th.  All the more reason to look back on the joy that prevailed in 2019.  Myself, I often miss my Mama years.  These two darlings are having such a grand time together that I'm drawn into their joy each time I look at this picture.

Coe Realty's Calendar: June 2020

2020-june-pic-reduced-size-1-of-1
Grandfather, his head in the clouds, overlooks water hemlock [careful: it's poisonous] and rosebay rhododendrons that thrive on the edge of Price Lake, nestled next to reeds.  A moment of June glory in the High Country.

Coe Realty's Calendar: April 2020

April-reduced-1-of-1
I do love trees. My favorite most relaxing time is spent out in the woods with trees.  Here's a giant who has lived along Old John's River Road, one of the oldest entry points into the High Country.  This tree is as old, perhaps older, than the road has existed.

Coe Realty's Calendar: January 2020

front-from-the-road-1-of-1
My 2020 calendar is finished.  I have given away quite a few calendars but do still have about 10 left to give away.  Let me know if you'd like one.    The January picture is of one of the many summer blooming, yellow flowers that help you feel bright and sunny on grey winter Mountain January days.  This flower was abo...

Coe Realty's Calendar: October 2019

october-catepillar-its-this-one-1-of-1
What caught my eye?  How nature put together for me the brilliant yellow and orange of the caterpillar next to the pale lavender of the blossoms.  I wouldn't have thought of that.  FYI, I'm beginning work on the 2029 calendar.  Always love to hear from folks who would like to have one!

Coe Realty's Calendar March 2019

march-tree-with-blue-sky-1-of-1
It's my long standing love affair with trees that drew me to take this picture.   I like to see them from all sorts of angles.  Still, the blue sky draws me back to this picture, particularly on the many grey days we've had.  It injects my psyche with happy blue and the radiant sunshine behind it. I still have a few calendars le...

Coe Realty's Calendar February 2019

cal-reeds
Someone asked me if this was a painting, but, not, it's a picture of reeds that grow along the banks of Trout Lake, near mp 294 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in Cone Park.  I often photograph them as they change character, always charming, in an ever transforming tableau from Spring through Fall.

Jan-2019-pic-smaller-1-of-1
'Hebron Colony Falls' is, to me, a happenstance name inappropriate to the beauty of this treat.  Reach it via an off shoot of Boone Fork Trail, about a mile from paring in Price Park Picnic area.

Coe Realty's Calendar October 2018

October-reduced-1-of-1
These trees are much photographed.  They are easy to get to, on the Parkway where Green Hill Road intersects.  I call them 'Brother Trees' because another sest of trees I shoot I call 'Sister Trees.'  This Fall, at this time one had shed its leaves but the other had not.  I hadn't noticed that on site while shooting them, in my ...

Another surprise this area brings us:  the Todd Liberty parade, perhaps the most unique July 4th celebration in our nation.   Come take part!  Everyone is welcome, either in your own favorite fantastical costume, or borrow one from Todd's Elkland Art Center.  Fun I promise you!  ....By the way, I have a few calendars s...

Taken when it was far enough into Spring for a bed of bright yellow blossoms yet on this chilly morning Grandfather's crown is covered with frost.  Always, always, a surprise awaits us in the mountains, if we stop to pause to see it, and take it in.

Coe Realty Calendar 2018 January

Early morning is one of my favorite times to go for a hike and 'catch light.' Moses Cone's Carriage Barn at sunrise is a great spot to try to imagine what it was like for him to experience the Park he left us. Always on my mind is how to illuminate his vision to others through photos.
