Event Description:
Rooted in tradition with an ear toward the future, contemporary folk duo Rakish blend Appalachian, Celtic, and Americana styles into a wholly unique sound. Fiddler Maura Shawn Scanlin, raised in the Appalachian Mountains, brings expressive fiddling and clawhammer banjo techniques, while guitarist Conor Hearn contributes literary-inspired compositions from the D.C. Irish music scene. Their album Now, O Now showcases their dexterous mix of old and new, pushing traditional sounds forward with creativity and infectious playfulness.
